Hotel Management Apostille & Attestation
Hotel management certificate attestation is the chain of official stamps that makes an Indian hotel management degree, diploma or craft certificate acceptable abroad: the right Indian authority, then the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), then the destination embassy for countries such as the UAE and Qatar. For Apostille Convention countries, a hotel management apostille from MEA replaces the embassy step.

Overview of Hotel Management Apostille & Attestation in India
Reliable Attestation is a private facilitation service in New Delhi. Hotel management files are unusual because the certificates come from many kinds of bodies: Institutes of Hotel Management under the National Council for Hotel Management and Catering Technology (NCHMCT), whose B.Sc. degrees are awarded by a central university; private colleges affiliated to state universities; state technical boards; and NCHMCT's own diplomas and craft courses. The route before MEA depends on which of these issued yours. We are not an institute, a university, a state department, MEA or an embassy, and we have one office, in New Delhi. Every hospitality certificate carries the signature of an official from the body that awarded it – a university registrar, a council's examination controller or a board secretary. An employer abroad cannot check that signature. Hotel management certificate attestation builds a chain of official confirmations instead: an Indian authority that recognises the signature, then MEA, then – for countries outside the Apostille Convention – the destination embassy and, in the Gulf, the foreign ministry.

The chain proves that the certificate is genuine. It does not prove that you can run a kitchen or a front desk, and it does not give your qualification equivalency abroad. Hotels and cruise lines judge skills through interviews, trade tests and experience; legalisation simply removes doubt about the paper.

Legalisation validates the authenticity of the issuing registrar's signature and the institutional accreditation under UGC, AICTE, or State Technical Boards.
Destination Country Acceptance & Legalization Guidelines
GCC Nations (UAE, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Kuwait, Oman, Bahrain): Complete consular authentication chain required—State HRD -> MEA Attestation -> Destination Embassy -> MOFA. Note: UAE requires final MOFA attestation inside the UAE; Saudi Arabia requires cultural bureau verification; Germany requires APS certificate for student visas. Hague Apostille Nations (120+ countries including USA, UK, Australia, France, Canada): A single MEA Hague Apostille sticker is accepted without embassy stamping.

What Is Hotel Management Certificate Attestation?
Who Awarded Your Hotel Management Certificate?
This is the question that decides everything else.
| Your certificate | Awarded by | Route before MEA (confirmed per file) |
|---|---|---|
| B.Sc. Hospitality & Hotel Administration from an IHM | Jawaharlal Nehru University, in collaboration with NCHMCT | Central-university route – confirmed for current and older batches |
| Older IHM B.Sc. degrees | The university named on your certificate | Depends on that university |
| BHM / BHMCT from a private college | The state university the college is affiliated to | That state's education department, or e-Sanad if connected |
| Diploma or craft certificate from an IHM | NCHMCT | Central-body route – confirmed per file |
| Diploma from a polytechnic or technical board | The state board of technical education | The state's technical education authority |
| Certificate from a private institute | The institute itself | Depends on recognition – confirmed with the institute |
IHM degrees and NCHMCT
NCHMCT works under the Ministry of Tourism. According to the Ministry, 95 Institutes of Hotel Management are affiliated to it, offering postgraduate, undergraduate, diploma and craft programmes, and the three-year B.Sc. in Hospitality & Hotel Administration is run with Jawaharlal Nehru University, which awards the degree. Because the degree comes from a central university rather than a state one, its route before MEA is not the usual state-education-department route. We confirm it for your batch before your original leaves your hands. Graduates of older batches should check which university's name appears on their degree, because the route follows the awarding university.
Private hotel management colleges
Private colleges usually award degrees through the state university they are affiliated to. The route is then the familiar one: the education department of that university's state, or online verification through e-Sanad if the university is connected.
Diplomas and craft certificates
Food production, food and beverage service, bakery and confectionery, front office and housekeeping diplomas and craft certificates come from NCHMCT, universities, state technical boards and private institutes. A hospitality diploma apostille or attestation depends on which of these issued yours.
Hotel Management Apostille or Attestation: Which Do You Need?
| Destination | What your hospitality certificate needs | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Saudi Arabia, Oman, Bahrain | Hotel management apostille from MEA | Saudi Arabia since 7 December 2022 – no Saudi embassy step |
| UAE | Attestation, then the UAE online Embassy + MOFA application | Laminated documents are not attested |
| Qatar | Attestation, including the Qatar Embassy in India | Qualifications issued outside Qatar are attested by Qatar's mission in the issuing country |
| Kuwait | Attestation, Kuwait Embassy, then the ministry in Kuwait | Confirmed per file |
| Malaysia, China | Attestation and embassy legalisation | Not Convention parties with India |
| Europe, USA, UK, Canada, Australia | Apostille, only if the employer or authority asks | Many employers rely on interviews and references instead |
| Germany | Verification on request of a German authority | Germany objected to India's accession |
Hospitality Diploma Apostille: What Changes From a Degree
A hospitality diploma apostille follows the same outline as a degree – the authority step, then MEA – but three things are different. First, the issuer varies more: NCHMCT, a university, a state technical board or a private institute may have issued your diploma, and each points to a different authority. Second, course titles vary widely and are sometimes renamed, so a short letter from the issuer can help if the title differs from what the employer expects. Third, diplomas are more often paired with experience letters, because operational roles weigh practical experience heavily. Plan the hospitality diploma apostille together with any experience documents the employer wants.
Which Hospitality Documents Are Usually Needed?
| Document | When it is needed | Points to check |
|---|---|---|
| Hotel management degree | Supervisory and management roles; many Gulf work permits | Name and course title |
| Diploma or craft certificate | Kitchen, bakery, service and housekeeping roles | Issuing body and course title |
| Mark sheets | When the employer or authority asks | Some bodies want all semesters |
| Industrial training certificate | Some employers ask for proof of internship | Issued by the hotel – a private document |
| Experience letters | Most hotel and cruise roles | Private documents with their own route |
| Food safety or other short-course certificates | Sometimes for kitchen roles | Often not legalised – ask first |
Ask the employer or recruiter for a written list. Hospitality employers often accept some documents as scans and want only the main qualification legalised. A written list also protects you if the requirements change between the offer and your joining date.
How the Hotel Management Certificate Attestation Process Works With Us
- 1Route check. You send scans of your certificates and passport and tell us the country, employer and job title. We confirm apostille or attestation and list what is needed.
- 2Issuer check. We identify who awarded each certificate – JNU with NCHMCT, a state university, NCHMCT itself, a technical board or an institute – and the authority before MEA.
- 3Document review. We check your name and course title against your passport and other documents, and the condition of each original.
- 4Verification, if needed. Some routes need the university, council or board to confirm the certificate first.
- 5Authority step. Each certificate goes to the authority that applies to its issuer, or through e-Sanad.
- 6MEA. The certificates receive an MEA apostille or MEA attestation through MEA's authorised collection channel.
- 7Embassy and foreign ministry. For the UAE, the online Embassy and MOFA application follows; for Qatar and Kuwait, their embassies.
- 8Return. Your certificates come back with a note of every stamp.
Hotel Management Degree Attestation for the Gulf
UAE
The UAE is one of the largest employers of Indian hospitality graduates. After MEA attestation, one online application on the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs website, made with UAE PASS, covers the UAE Embassy in New Delhi and UAE MOFA. An approved provider collects the original, and the attested document is emailed with a reference number that can be checked online. The UAE does not attest laminated documents.
Qatar
Qatar's foreign ministry requires qualifications issued outside Qatar to be attested by Qatar's mission in the issuing country – for Indian certificates, the Qatar Embassy in India, after MEA.
Saudi Arabia, Oman and Bahrain
These countries accept the MEA apostille, so a hotel management degree apostille is the final step on the Indian side.
Kuwait
After MEA attestation, the Kuwait Embassy legalises the certificate and the final ministry step is usually completed in Kuwait.
Hotel Management Apostille for Europe and Beyond
Indian hospitality professionals increasingly work in European hotels, restaurants and resorts, often through national work-permit schemes for skilled or shortage occupations. Requirements vary from country to country: some immigration or labour authorities want the qualification apostilled and translated, others accept it as issued and rely on the employer's checks. When an apostille is requested, the authority step comes first, then MEA. Germany is an exception: because it objected to India's accession, an Indian apostille has no effect there, and German authorities verify Indian documents through their own process.
Hotel Management Apostille for the UK, Canada and Australia
These countries are Apostille Convention members, but their employers and immigration systems often do not ask for legalised hospitality qualifications. Skilled-worker routes usually depend on the job offer, the salary and the occupation rather than on stamps on your certificate, and some occupations need a skills assessment by a designated body. Where an authority or employer does ask for a hotel management apostille, it follows the usual route: the authority step for your issuer, then MEA. Ask before you apply, so you do not legalise documents nobody will check.
Culinary Arts and Bakery Qualifications
Chefs and bakers often hold several qualifications: a craft certificate or diploma, a degree, and short courses in specialised cuisines or pastry. Employers abroad usually care most about the main qualification and about proof of experience, often checked through a trial shift or trade test. If the main culinary qualification comes from an IHM or NCHMCT, the central-body route applies; if it comes from a state technical board or a private institute, the route follows that issuer. Short courses from private academies may not be public documents at all, so check whether the employer really needs them legalised.
Short Courses and Private Certificates
Food safety, bartending, barista and similar certificates are usually issued by private training providers. They are not public documents in the usual sense, so the educational route does not apply to them. If an employer insists on legalising one, it may need notarisation and the state authority's step as a private document, if the state accepts it at all. In most cases, a clear copy is enough. Ask before you spend time on these.
Recruitment Agencies and Document Lists
Many hospitality jobs abroad are filled through recruitment agencies, which pass on the employer's document list. Lists passed through several hands can be outdated – for example, asking for Saudi embassy attestation, which is no longer needed. Ask the agency for the employer's original list, in writing. If your passport is marked for emigration check (ECR), emigration clearance may also apply for certain countries, which is handled separately from legalisation; check this with your recruiter.
Seasonal and Contract Roles
Seasonal resort jobs and short contracts often come with tight timelines and simpler document requirements. Some employers accept certificates as scans for a first contract and ask for legalised originals only when you return for a longer one. Ask whether that applies to you before starting a full chain for a few months' work.
Hotel Management Certificate Attestation for Supervisory Work Permits
In several Gulf countries, the job title on a work permit is linked to the holder's qualification. A supervisor, manager or executive chef title may require a degree or diploma that matches the role, while operational titles may not. Ask your employer which title will appear on your permit, and whether it depends on your qualification, before hotel management certificate attestation begins. If the title depends on the degree, make sure the degree – not just a diploma – is legalised, and that the course title supports the role.
Cruise Lines and International Hotel Groups
Cruise lines and international hotel chains usually run their own recruitment checks: interviews, reference checks, medical examinations and, for cruise roles, safety training. Many do not ask for legalised certificates at all; some ask only when the work permit or flag-state rules require it. Before legalising anything for a cruise or chain-hotel role, ask the recruiter exactly which documents need an apostille or attestation, and which they will accept as scans.
Experience Letters From Hotels and Restaurants
Hospitality employers abroad often care as much about experience as about qualifications. Experience letters, industrial training certificates and relieving letters are private documents issued by hotels and restaurants, not public documents, so they follow a different route – typically notarisation and the state authority's step before MEA, with details confirmed per state. Many employers accept them without legalisation; some insist on it. Each letter should be on the hotel's letterhead, signed, stamped and dated, with your name exactly as in your passport, and should state your position, department and dates clearly.
Hotel Management Degree Attestation by Role
| Role abroad | Documents employers commonly ask for | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Management trainee, assistant manager | Degree, sometimes mark sheets and experience letters | Degree usually legalised for the work permit |
| Front office, guest relations | Degree or diploma, experience letters | Language skills often tested at interview |
| Food and beverage service | Diploma or craft certificate, experience letters | Many employers legalise only the main certificate |
| Commis and chefs | Food production diploma or craft certificate, experience letters | Trade tests are common |
| Bakery and pastry | Bakery and confectionery certificate, experience letters | Portfolio or trial shift may be required |
| Housekeeping | Diploma or craft certificate, experience letters | Requirements vary widely |
This table shows common patterns, not rules. The employer's written list decides. For supervisory roles in the Gulf, the job title on the work permit often depends on the qualification, so hotel management degree attestation is usually needed; for many operational roles, only the main certificate is legalised.
Industrial Training and Internship Certificates
Hospitality programmes include industrial training at hotels, and employers abroad sometimes ask for the training certificate as proof of practical experience. These certificates are issued by the hotel, not by the institute, so they are private documents. If an employer asks for one to be legalised, it follows the route for private documents rather than the educational route – typically notarisation and the state authority's step before MEA, confirmed per state. Often a clear copy is enough; ask before starting.
Choosing Which Documents to Legalise
Legalise only what is asked for. A Gulf supervisory role may need the degree; a kitchen role may need only the craft certificate; a cruise role may need nothing legalised at all. Each extra certificate means another chain and another set of stamps on an original you may need again. Send us the recruiter's written list, and we will tell you which documents need hotel management certificate attestation or an apostille and which can be sent as they are.
How Long Does Hotel Management Certificate Attestation Take?
| Stage | What decides the time | Indicative pattern |
|---|---|---|
| Route and issuer check | How quickly you share scans | Usually the quickest stage |
| University, council or board verification | The issuer's verification process | Can be the longest stage |
| Authority step | The relevant office's workload | Varies |
| MEA | Collection channel and processing | Generally predictable |
| Embassy / foreign ministry | Country and season | Varies by country |
Indicative only – we do not promise fixed days. We share an estimated timeline after reviewing your documents.
What Is the Total Made Of?
We do not publish charges, because the total depends on the file. It includes any issuer verification, the authority step, MEA, the embassy and foreign-ministry stages or the apostille, translation if needed, and courier or pickup and return. Our team shares the exact total after reviewing your documents.
Three Typical Situations
These are illustrative examples based on common requests; names are changed and details simplified.
An IHM graduate joining a hotel in Dubai
Neha completed the B.Sc. in Hospitality & Hotel Administration at an IHM. Her degree is awarded by Jawaharlal Nehru University with NCHMCT, so we confirm the central-university route for her batch before starting. After MEA attestation, she completes the UAE online Embassy and MOFA application with her UAE PASS.
A chef with a craft certificate going to Riyadh
Sandeep holds a food production craft certificate and five years' kitchen experience. His Saudi employer wants the certificate and his experience letters. Saudi Arabia accepts the apostille, so the certificate needs its authority step and an MEA apostille; we check whether the employer also needs the experience letters legalised before doing anything with them.
A BHM graduate moving to Malta
Priya's BHM is from a private college affiliated to a state university in Karnataka. Her employer's work-permit application asks for the degree apostilled. The degree goes to Karnataka's education authority, then MEA for the apostille, and a translation is not required in her case.
Hotel Management Certificate Attestation in Delhi
Our office is in Malviya Nagar, New Delhi, and much of our hotel management certificate attestation work starts here. Delhi helps in two ways for hospitality files: the university that awards IHM B.Sc. degrees is based in Delhi, and MEA's New Delhi collection centres and most embassies are here too. For certificates from private colleges in other states, the state step happens there; we arrange it and bring the documents back for MEA and the embassy.
Name and Course-Title Differences
The name on each certificate should match your passport. Initials instead of a full name, a surname added after marriage, or a spelling difference can cause queries at any stage. Course titles matter too: hospitality programmes have been renamed over the years, and an employer abroad may expect a particular title. If your certificate is wrong, only the issuer can correct it; if your name changed later, carry proof of the change; if a course title needs explaining, ask the institute or university for a short letter.
If a Document Is Refused
Refusals usually have a clear cause: the wrong authority for the issuer, a certificate the authority cannot verify, a name mismatch, a laminated original, or a missing confirmation letter. Some problems take days to fix; others need the issuer to correct or reissue the certificate. We explain which kind you have, and whether a different route would be faster, before anything is resubmitted.
Planning Around Joining Dates
Hospitality hiring often follows the calendar: new hotel openings, the Gulf's busy winter season, and Europe's summer season. Offers can come with short joining windows. As soon as an offer arrives, ask for the exact document list and send us scans the same week. Start any university or council verification first, because that usually takes longest. Leave time for embassy holidays and the shorter working hours of Gulf missions during Ramadan, and tell us your joining date at the start.
Common Mistakes With Hotel Management Certificates
- Treating an IHM degree like a state-university degree. The awarding university decides the route.
- Sending a diploma to the wrong authority. Diplomas and craft certificates follow their issuer.
- Getting an apostille for the UAE or Qatar. They need attestation.
- Attesting for Saudi Arabia through the embassy. It accepts the apostille.
- Legalising every certificate. Many hospitality employers want only the main qualification.
- Forgetting experience letters. Some employers need them legalised too.
- Using SDM or a notary for a degree. Neither is part of the degree route.
- Laminating certificates. The UAE does not attest laminated documents.
Special Cases
Older IHM degrees
Older batches may hold degrees from a university other than the current one. The route follows the university named on your certificate.
Postgraduate diplomas
PG diplomas in accommodation operations or hospitality management may be awarded by NCHMCT or by a university, depending on the programme.
International-collaboration programmes
Some private colleges run programmes with foreign universities. A certificate issued by a foreign university follows that country's route, not India's.
Name differences
A spelling difference or a name change needs supporting documents.
Closed institutes
If your institute has closed, the affiliating university or the council usually holds the records. Start early.
Certificates needed for two countries
A certificate can carry both an apostille (for Saudi Arabia) and attestation (for the UAE), applied for separately.
Certificates from two states
If your diploma comes from a technical board in one state and your degree from a university in another, each goes to its own authority. The two steps can run in parallel, so both certificates reach MEA together.
Hospitality qualifications from abroad
If you studied part of your programme abroad and hold a foreign certificate, that certificate follows the issuing country's route, not India's.
Older Certificates and Renamed Institutes
Hospitality professionals often move abroad years after qualifying. Their institute may have been renamed, upgraded or merged, or its programmes may now be awarded by a different university. The route follows the body named on your certificate, not the one in charge today. Older records can take longer to verify, so we contact the issuer early and explain any change of name in a covering note.
Postgraduate and MBA Qualifications in Hospitality
Managers moving abroad may hold an MBA in hospitality or tourism, an MHM or a postgraduate diploma. University-awarded postgraduate degrees follow the university's route; postgraduate diplomas from councils or institutes follow the issuer's route. Senior roles often need every qualification plus experience letters, so plan the whole set together.
Hotel Management Degree Apostille for Further Study
Some graduates go abroad to study hospitality further. Universities in the UK, Ireland, Australia and North America usually want transcripts sent by your university, not a hotel management degree apostille. Universities in continental Europe more often ask for an apostille and a translation. Germany requires most Indian students to obtain an APS certificate instead. Follow each university's instructions exactly.
What Hotel Management Certificate Attestation Does Not Do
- It does not prove your skills or experience.
- It does not give your qualification equivalency abroad.
- It does not replace trade tests, medicals or employer checks.
- It does not correct errors – only the issuer can.
- It does not guarantee a visa or job.
Questions to Ask Your Employer or Recruiter
- Which documents must be legalised – degree, diploma, craft certificate, experience letters?
- Attestation or apostille – and is the checklist current for Saudi Arabia?
- Will you accept scans for any documents?
- Is there a trade test, medical or training requirement?
- Is there a joining date we should plan around?
- Which job title will appear on my work permit?
- Will you accept scans first while the legalised originals are on their way?
Translation and Equivalency
Indian hospitality certificates are usually issued in English. Some destinations ask for a translation into their own language, normally after the apostille or attestation, by a translator they recognise. Equivalency – whether your qualification is treated as equal to a local one – is decided by authorities abroad and is separate from legalisation; in hospitality it rarely matters as much as experience and interviews, but some work-permit schemes do look at it.
Verifying a Legalised Certificate
Employers sometimes check the stamps themselves. For the UAE, the digitally attested document carries a reference number that can be checked on the UAE ministry's verification portal. Elsewhere, offices check stamps against their own records. Keep clear scans of every page after each stage.
Working With Us From Abroad
Many hospitality professionals are already working abroad when a new offer arrives. A family member can hand your originals to us, or you can courier them. We need a passport copy and a short authorisation. For the UAE, we coordinate the online step with you once MEA attestation is complete.
How We Keep You Updated
You receive a short message when your documents reach us, when each official stage is complete and when they are on the way back. If something is delayed, we tell you the same day and explain what it means for your joining date.
Families Moving Together
When a hotel professional relocates with family, the file often includes a marriage certificate for the spouse's visa and birth certificates for children. These are personal documents with their own state route. Planning them alongside your qualifications means everything reaches the embassy together.
Our Role and the Officials' Role
The university, council or board decides whether to confirm your certificate. The relevant authority decides whether to authenticate it, MEA decides whether to issue its apostille or attestation, and the embassy decides whether to legalise. Our role is preparation and coordination: identifying the right offices, preparing the file, submitting it through the authorised channels and returning your originals safely. We cannot influence any official decision.
Safe Handling of Your Originals
We record each original when it reaches us, keep it in our office between stages, and return it by tracked courier or in person. We ask only for the originals your destination needs.
When Your Certificates Come Back: What to Check
- The authority stamp or e-Sanad record for each certificate.
- MEA's apostille or attestation.
- The embassy's legalisation and, for the UAE, the emailed attestation and its reference number.
- That your name and course title are correct throughout.
Documents and Details to Keep Ready
- Original degree, diploma or craft certificates, unlaminated.
- Mark sheets, if asked for.
- A copy of your passport.
- Experience and industrial training letters.
- The destination, employer, job title and the recruiter's written list.
Pre-Submission Checklist
- The awarding body of each certificate is identified.
- Apostille or attestation decided.
- Originals not laminated or damaged.
- Names and course titles match.
- Experience letters checked if needed.

We work from one office in Malviya Nagar, New Delhi, and serve clients across India by pickup or courier. We do not have offices in other cities. Wherever you trained, the authority step depends on the awarding body; MEA and most embassies are in New Delhi.

Hotel Management Certificate Attestation and Apostille for Hospitality Careers Abroad
Reliable Attestation helps hotel management graduates, chefs, bakers and hospitality professionals prepare their qualifications for work abroad. Hotel management certificate attestation is the chain of official stamps that makes an Indian hospitality degree, diploma or craft certificate acceptable in countries outside the Apostille Convention, such as the UAE, Qatar and Kuwait: the right Indian authority for the certificate's issuer, then the Ministry of External Affairs, then the destination embassy and, in the Gulf, its foreign ministry. For Convention countries such as Saudi Arabia, Oman and Bahrain, a hotel management apostille from MEA replaces the embassy step.
The first question is always who awarded your certificate. According to the Ministry of Tourism, the National Council for Hotel Management and Catering Technology has 95 affiliated Institutes of Hotel Management, and the three-year B.Sc. in Hospitality & Hotel Administration is run with Jawaharlal Nehru University, which awards the degree. That makes the route for an IHM degree different from a typical state-university degree. Private colleges award BHM and BHMCT degrees through their affiliating state universities, so hotel management degree attestation for those follows the state education route. Diplomas and craft certificates may come from NCHMCT, a university, a state technical board or an institute, and a hospitality diploma apostille follows whichever body issued yours.
A hotel management degree apostille is the right choice for Saudi Arabia and other Convention countries; attestation is needed for the UAE, where one online application after MEA attestation covers the UAE Embassy in New Delhi and UAE MOFA, and for Qatar, which requires qualifications issued outside Qatar to be attested by its mission in the issuing country. Germany is an exception: an Indian apostille has no effect there. Many cruise lines and international hotel groups do not ask for legalised certificates at all, and some employers want only the main qualification, so we check the written list first.
Experience letters, industrial training certificates and short-course certificates are private documents with their own route, and are often accepted as copies. We ask before legalising them. We also check names and course titles against your passport, because renamed programmes and spelling differences are common in hospitality files.
We are a private facilitation service, not an institute, university, council, state department, MEA or embassy, and we work from one office in New Delhi, serving clients across India by pickup or courier. MEA does not legalise photocopies, and the UAE does not attest laminated documents. We do not promise fixed days, because issuers, authorities, MEA and embassies set their own pace; we share an honest estimate after reviewing your documents. The total depends on the documents, the issuer and the destination, and our team shares the exact total after reviewing your documents.
